Difference between PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii
Speaking to videogaming247 at the SCEE PlayStation Day yesterday, SCEE president David Reeves said it’s “little things like PlayTV” that will swing consumers towards PS3 as the differences between the three major consoles on the market are so slight.

“Just as when you see two top football teams playing, the margin of error [is so small], the difference between Xbox and ourselves and Wii is so little, that you’ve got to have these little things like PlayTV on PS3 or GoExplore on PSP to make the difference, so the consumer says, ‘I’ll have that one, please,’” he said.

Software’s still the focus, though, as SCE boss Kaz Hirai labored in our chat last night.

“The number one priority is still having the great games every month,” said Reeves. “We know that that’s what fundamentally drives the business. Some consumers, though, look a little bit to the right, a little bit to the left, and say, ‘Well, interesting: it’s got a hard drive, and there’s PlayTV as well. That means I can get digital terrestrial TV.’

RE: Difference between PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii
First of all, PS3/PSP is a Sony’s set to launch a slimmed-down version. The new model, which has a built-in AC adaptor, weighs 720 grams (25.40 ounces), down from a combined weight of 850 grams (29.98 ounces) for the previous model and its external AC adaptor. Also from Sony, came news that the 40GB PS3 doesn't contain a 65nm Cell as previously rumoured - it just sucks up less power than the previous models.
Then about Xbox 360, Speaking at a BMO Capital Markets conference on interactive entertainment, a Microsoft executive has pointed to the Playstation 2 as highlighting the benefits of stretching the Xbox 360's lifespan beyond the "typical" (depending on who you ask) five years. Joystiq points out the irony here. It looks like the Fall Update family timer rumours were true.
An last about Wii/DS, Nintendo has said it is tackling a production bottleneck to ensure third-parties are able to get software on shelves in time for the busy holiday season. Earlier this month publisher Midway said that it was struggling to get product to shelves as a result of relentless demand on Nintendo for the Wii and its software.
